We are on our way to Bloem and in the meantime we are mostly fighting the constant urge to go into hibernation in this cold weather. Poor Duke seems to be suffering the worst with a newborn at home, playing gigs at night and then having to get up for work at 4h40am. Once again the Steak & Ale gig on the 30th was the best and although Argentina lost the soccer, we had a full house, great audience and friendly staff. The 88 Lounge in Norwood was also fantastic and it is great to see a totally new crowd enjoying our music. We will be touring in the Western Cape at the beginning of September and the venues and dates will be available soon. Before then it will, however, be time for Oppikoppi! See you there. Gigs
Favourites of the Month *Best new drink: the new and improved version of the R & R (rum and raspberry) namely the R & B (ean) = double rum, single potency and fanta grape. *Book of the month: Anthony Kiedis (from Red Hot Chilli Peppers) - Scar Tissue. Very, very scary rock 'n' roll autobiography.. sex, drugs and some more drugs! *Quote of the month: "I had a steady job, 'till I started in the drinking, then I started making music, travelling with the devil's band.." Can't wait for the next road trip... *Must have CD's and DVD's: Pearl Jam 10 featuring the classic: Jeremy Wolfmother (new band old style): for led zep, sabbath and deep purple fans Cryptopsy: not for sissies death metal Pink Floyd: "Pulse" Tom Waits: "Blue Valentine" old album re-discovered by Bean, the ultimate blues album! What does Piet have to say After much cajoling, begging, threats and eventually blackmail ... we have a contribution straight from the pen of the Hammer (to make up for the seriously late newsletter). So here goes Newsletter… The winter really came down…can't even sit outside and play guitar…maybe spring comes early… But it's not so bad….somewhere some cats haven't even got guitars They got no food but they got a lot of AK 47's Welcome to Tanzania… America keeps breeding their soap-opera clowns And some of our people just follow… Duke became a father, and Tony too..
